Let’s begin with the basics. If you have done a bong out of an apple, you know the drill. Here’s what you need:

Pumpkin bongs are easy to make and eco-friendly. Here we go:

1. Leave the gut

As you know, a pumpkin is filled with seeds inside. However, the cavity is hollow. The good news is that you do not need to scoop all the guts out. The smoke fills the vacant space in the cavity, delivering a fresh, pumpkin flavor.

2. Drill

To make sure smoke gets from the weed, you will need two or three apertures in the pumpkin.

Carve A Weed Bowl
If you do not have a glass down-stem, no worries. Pick a spot near the top of the pumpkin, so your weed will not fall out. Carve out a bowl-shaped hole. Don’t break through the meat of the pumpkin.

Once you have a shallow bowl, use a drill bit or screwdriver to punch a hole through the pumpkin into the center cavity. The hole should be narrow, so you do not suck a flower into the pumpkin.

Use A Glass Down-Stem
Make sure your down-stem fitting tightly. Start with a small hole and widen it until you can squeeze a down-stem into it. Force the down-stem into the pumpkin flesh.

Drill the mouthpiece and carb. Hold the pumpkin and figure out where the most comfortable place to put your mouth and to cover a carb. The rule of thumb is to put the carb near the bowl or down-stem hole, with the mouthpiece on the other side of the pumpkin.

Drill the last two holes deep into the center of the pumpkin at about 45 degrees, all meeting in the middle.

Test It
Test the airflow before lighting up your bong. Suck through the mouthpiece and practice releasing the carb. You should feel the pressure build up. Sucking sounds coming from the bowl is a must. If you are experiencing any problems, use a drill bit again and swirl it around the interior of the pumpkin.

Check for excess moisture. Wipe away the water that forms on the rim of the holes you drilled. Wait a bit to dry up.
